Important work should move.
Motive helps mission-driven organizations and leaders get clear on where they’re going, build what it takes to get there, and lead through what comes next.
Strategy. Execution. People.
The Problem
Good people. Important work. And somehow, it’s still harder than it should be.
Sometimes the strategy isn’t clear enough yet. Sometimes everyone agrees on the strategy, but execution keeps breaking down. Sometimes the real issue is the people side: trust, expectations, accountability, capacity, communication, leadership or culture.
And sometimes all three are tangled together.
Motive helps leaders figure out what’s actually getting in the way, then build practical ways forward. No consulting theater. No beautiful plan that disappears onto a shelf. Just clearer thinking, useful structure and work that moves.
For Organizations
Where does your organization need to move?
-
Get clear on where you’re going.
When the direction, choices or priorities need work, Motive helps you step out of the noise and decide what matters.

Strategic planning • Stakeholder and community engagement • Audience research • Mission, vision and values • Organizational design and restructuring • Strategic priorities and goals • Strategic communications planning • Leadership and board strategy retreatsEXPLORE STRATEGY
-
Turn priorities into action.
A strategy is only useful if people can actually move it. Motive helps turn priorities into ownership, systems, decisions and visible progress.

Culture isn’t separate from results. Trust, expectations, feedback, accountability and leadership shape what your people can actually accomplish.

Culture and engagement assessments • Employee engagement strategy • Executive and team coaching • Team effectiveness • Difficult conversation support and facilitation • Role clarity and job design • Leadership development • Hiring and selection support • Performance expectations and accountability • Team working sessions and retreatsEXPLORE PEOPLE
Sometimes you need one piece.
Sometimes you need all the pieces.
Strategy, execution and people support in one sustained partnership.
For executives carrying complex priorities that don’t fit neatly into one consulting box. Get chief-level strategic judgment, implementation support, leadership advising, facilitation, communication support and progress visibility without adding another full-time executive.
A focused reset when your leadership team needs to get clear and move forward.
Clarify priorities. Make key decisions. Define ownership. Establish success measures. Leave with a practical way to move the work.
For Leaders
Your organization isn’t the only thing worth being strategic about.
You spend a lot of time thinking about what your team needs, where your organization is going and what everyone else needs from you.
What about where you’re going?
Motive works with individual leaders who want to keep developing, navigate career decisions with intention, lead through hard seasons, or create enough space to think seriously about what they want next.
-
Private strategic support for the leadership challenges, career decisions, transitions and opportunities in front of you.
Bring the messy question. The difficult conversation. The opportunity you can’t quite evaluate. The leadership challenge you keep turning over in your head. The feeling that something needs to change even if you don’t know exactly what yet.
We’ll work through it together.
-
You give your organization strategy days. When was the last time you gave yourself one?
Small-group half- and full-day experiences designed to get you out of the day-to-day long enough to take stock, think clearly and make decisions about your leadership, career and life.
Less inspiration for inspiration’s sake. More clarity about what you want, what needs to change and what you’re doing next.
-
Multi-day small-group experiences for women leaders who need more than a productive day.
Beautiful places. Real rest. Honest conversation. Strategic reflection. Enough space to reconnect with yourself and think intentionally about the leadership, career and life you’re building.
The Motive Approach
Understand what’s actually happening before deciding what should happen next.
There is no canned Motive playbook.
The work may involve strategy, research, facilitation, communications, organizational systems, leadership advising or people dynamics because real organizational problems rarely stay inside neat consulting categories.
What stays consistent is how the work feels:
Clear.
We make complexity easier to understand and decisions easier to make.
Practical.
The work has to survive Tuesday morning, not just sound smart in a presentation.
Human.
Results matter. So do the people responsible for producing them.
Honest.
We name what’s actually getting in the way, including the uncomfortable parts.
Built to move.
The goal isn’t more consulting. It’s stronger internal clarity, capability and movement.
Meet Nikki
I’m Nikki Henry, Founder + Principal Advisor of Motive.
Before launching Motive, I spent years as a cabinet-level executive inside complex, high-stakes organizations where strategy, people, communication, culture, operations and public pressure all had to move at the same time.
I’ve led strategic planning and community engagement, built teams and systems, advised executives, navigated major change and crisis, developed leaders, facilitated difficult conversations, led high-stakes communications and helped turn ambitious ideas into measurable results.
That range is intentional. Most important problems aren’t only strategy problems, execution problems or people problems. They’re some combination of all three.
A few proof points:
Cabinet-level executive leadership in a $2B+ organization
Strategic planning and engagement involving 66,000+ stakeholders
$825M in successful public bond measures
Work that helped produce 4x impact growth in one year
Executive experience across strategy, communications, culture, public trust, crisis response and cross-functional implementation
TL;DR Leadership Notes
Useful leadership thinking. Without the leadership-content novel.
TL;DR Leadership is Motive’s short weekly note for people trying to lead well, move important work and remain human while doing it.
Practical leadership insight. A little perspective. Something good in the world. No 47-step morning routine required.
