Meet Nikki
I’m Nikki Henry, Founder & Principal Advisor of Motive.
My work sits at the intersection of strategy, leadership, culture, communication, and execution. I help mission-driven leaders turn strategic priorities into clearer decisions, stronger ownership, healthier team dynamics, and more consistent follow-through.
Before launching Motive, I spent years as a cabinet-level executive inside complex, high-stakes organizations where strategy, people, communication, trust, operations, politics, and public pressure all had to move at the same time.
That experience shaped how I see leadership.
Important work usually doesn’t get stuck because people don’t care. It gets stuck because priorities compete, ownership gets blurry, meetings create more conversation than decisions, follow-through depends too much on one overwhelmed leader, and hard people dynamics go unnamed until they become business problems.
I built Motive for leaders who are tired of carrying the whole picture alone.
The leaders I work with are usually doing important work. Their teams are busy. Their missions matter. Their people care. But somewhere between the plan, the meeting, the follow-up, and the real-life messiness of people being people, the right work is not moving clearly enough.
That’s where Motive comes in.
I help leaders and executive teams create clearer priorities, stronger ownership, better meeting and follow-through habits, and a more practical way to see what’s moving, what’s stuck, and what needs attention.
The work is strategic, but it’s also deeply human. Trust, expectations, feedback, accountability, and leadership behavior are often where execution either breaks down or becomes possible.
A few proof points behind the work:
Cabinet-level executive leadership in a $2B+ enterprise
Executive experience guiding strategy, culture, communication, public trust, crisis response, and cross-functional implementation
Led strategic planning and engagement work involving 66,000+ stakeholders
Built teams, systems, and leadership practices that improved clarity, trust, service delivery, and measurable impact
Led public trust strategies that supported $825M in successful bond measures
Known for turning complexity into clear decisions, practical tools, and stronger follow-through
Motive is not built around consulting theater, generic facilitation, or another plan that looks beautiful and dies quietly in a folder.
It is built for leaders who want the work to move.
The goal is simple: clearer priorities, stronger ownership, healthier team dynamics, and progress your team can actually sustain.
What Others Have Said
People I’ve worked with often describe me as clear, calm, direct, energizing, honest, and deeply human. They have said I help people feel seen, ask the questions others avoid, bring steadiness in high-pressure moments, and create the kind of space where people feel supported, challenged, and able to grow.
