FOR LEADERS

Be as intentional about your own direction as you are about everyone else’s.

You spend a lot of time thinking about what your team needs, where your organization is going, and what everyone else needs from you.

This is the space to think about you.

Motive works with leaders who want to keep developing, navigate career and life decisions with more intention, lead through difficult seasons, and create enough space to decide what they actually want next.

You don’t have to be in crisis to want something different.

Maybe work is going well, but you’re wondering what comes next.

Maybe you’re considering a role, promotion, career shift or opportunity and can’t tell whether it’s actually right for you.

Maybe you’re growing as a leader and running into situations no leadership book quite prepares you for.

Maybe something feels off, even though from the outside everything looks successful.

Or maybe you’ve spent so long helping an organization move forward that you haven’t had much space to ask where you want to go.

You don’t need a five-year life plan before you start.

Just bring the question.

Three Ways to Work with Motive

LEADERSHIP + CAREER ADVISING

Private strategic support for the decisions in front of you.

Sometimes you need more than encouragement.

You need someone who can listen carefully, see the patterns, challenge your assumptions, help you think through the tradeoffs and tell you when you may be avoiding the real issue.

Leadership + Career Advising is one-on-one support for leaders navigating real decisions, challenges and opportunities.

WE MIGHT WORK ON:

  • Leadership challenges

  • Career strategy

  • Role changes and transitions

  • Evaluating new opportunities

  • Difficult conversations

  • Managing up

  • Team and organizational dynamics

  • Executive communication

  • Leadership presence

  • Negotiation and decision-making

  • Positioning and visibility

  • Boundaries and sustainability

  • What you want your next chapter to look like

The work is practical, direct and customized to what’s actually happening.

No generic curriculum. No pretending every answer is already inside you if what would actually help is experienced perspective and honest advice.

SOMETIMES THE REAL QUESTION ISN’T “WHAT’S MY NEXT JOB?”

It’s “What kind of life am I trying to build?”

Career decisions don’t happen in a vacuum.

A bigger title may come with less freedom.

An exciting opportunity may cost more than it gives back.

A stable role may no longer fit who you’re becoming.

Success can keep expanding long after you’ve stopped asking whether you still want the version of success you’re chasing.

Motive creates space to think about leadership, career and life together.

Because the right next move should work on paper and in your actual life.

LEADERSHIP STRATEGY DAYS

You give your organization strategy days. When was the last time you gave yourself one?

Leadership Strategy Days are small-group half- or full-day experiences designed to get you out of the normal pace long enough to think clearly.

Good thinking doesn't require fluorescent lighting and stale conference-room coffee.

Small group. Great setting. Good food. Smart women. Enough structure to make real decisions and enough breathing room to hear yourself think.

This isn’t a conference. It isn’t a motivational seminar. And it isn’t eight hours of networking while someone tells you to dream bigger.

It’s structured time to take stock, make decisions and create a clearer direction for what comes next.

WE MAY EXPLORE:

Where are you now?
What’s working? What isn’t? What has changed?

What do you actually want?
Not what you’re supposed to want. Not what looks impressive from the outside.

What are you tolerating?
What is taking more energy than it deserves?

What decisions are you avoiding?
What keeps getting pushed into “later”?

How do you want to lead?
What kind of leader are you becoming, and what needs to change to get there?

What are you building?
What do you want your career, leadership and life to look like over the next season?

YOU LEAVE WITH:

  • Greater clarity about what matters now

  • Decisions you’ve been postponing

  • Priorities for the next season

  • A clearer definition of success

  • Specific next moves

  • Space in your brain you probably haven’t had in a while

Strategy Days are intentionally small so the conversation can be honest, useful and specific.

MOTIVE RETREATS

Step out of the noise long enough to hear yourself think.

Some questions need more than an afternoon.

Motive Retreats are multi-day small-group experiences for women leaders who want real space to rest, reflect, connect and think intentionally about what they’re building next.

A beautiful place. Really good food. Smart women who don't need to posture. Meaningful work, honest conversation, room to wander, and actual unscheduled time.

Because a retreat about building a better life probably shouldn't leave you needing a vacation afterward.

EXPECT A MIX OF:

  • Facilitated leadership, career and life strategy work

  • Individual reflection

  • Honest small-group conversation

  • Time to think without producing anything

  • Connection with other thoughtful women leaders

  • Great food

  • Rest

  • Movement and time outside when the location allows

  • Space that is intentionally not filled with programming

The goal is not to send you home with 74 pages of notes and a new list of things to accomplish. The goal is to help you leave clearer about what deserves your energy and what doesn’t.

NOT A “MAXIMIZE YOURSELF” RETREAT.

You may already be very good at achieving.

The question is whether everything you’re achieving still belongs in the life you want.

Motive Retreats are for women who are willing to think honestly about things like:

  • What success means now

  • What they want more of

  • What they want less of

  • Ambition

  • Leadership

  • Purpose

  • Career

  • Relationships

  • Rest

  • Time

  • Identity outside of work

  • What the next chapter could look like

You do not need to arrive burned out, quitting your job or ready for a dramatic reinvention. You just need to be willing to pay attention.

WHO THIS IS FOR

You’ll probably feel at home here if:

  • You’re thoughtful, capable and still curious about how you can grow

  • You’re leading people, organizations, projects or important work

  • You’re navigating a decision or transition

  • You want honest thinking, not empty encouragement

  • You care about success but don’t want work to consume your entire identity

  • You want to make intentional choices instead of simply following the next obvious opportunity

  • You’re willing to examine your own leadership, not only everyone else’s

  • You value both ambition and a life outside of achievement

You do not need a C-suite title. But this work is designed for people carrying meaningful responsibility who are ready to think seriously about how they want to use it.

WHAT THIS ISN’T

Motive’s work with individual leaders is not:

  • Therapy

  • A résumé-writing service

  • Recruiting or job placement

  • A rigid leadership curriculum

  • Life coaching built around affirmations and accountability texts

  • A guarantee that you’ll leave your job, get promoted or discover your “one true purpose”

  • Hustle culture dressed up as personal development

You may leave with a bigger goal. You may also leave deciding you don’t want the thing you thought you were supposed to chase.

Both can be progress.

Why Motive?

I’ve spent a lot of years helping organizations figure out where they’re going.

I’ve also learned that capable leaders can spend enormous amounts of energy creating clarity for everyone except themselves.

I’m Nikki Henry, Founder + Principal Advisor of Motive.

My background includes cabinet-level executive leadership, strategy, communications, organizational change, culture, team leadership and navigating complex, high-pressure environments.

But the perspective I bring to individual leaders isn’t just professional.

I believe meaningful work matters.

I also believe we work to live. We don’t live to work.

Your career should support the life you’re building, not quietly become the whole thing.

That doesn’t mean thinking smaller. It means being more intentional about what deserves your ambition.

LEADERSHIP + LIFE AREN’T SEPARATE SYSTEMS.

The leader you are affects your career.

Your career affects your time.

Your time affects your relationships.

Your ambition affects what you say yes to.

Your values affect what success feels like when you finally get there.

That’s why this work doesn’t force leadership, career and life into separate boxes.

We can look at the whole picture.

NOT SURE WHERE TO START?

You don’t need to know whether you need advising, a strategy day or a retreat.

Tell me what you’re navigating.

We’ll figure out what kind of space or support would actually be useful.
